This is a 16 hour course over 2 days and includes a
demonstration at a home in the Weatherization Program. The
course is designed to prepare students for a real-world
application of skills by providing a comprehensive understanding
of the State of Florida’s Weatherization Assistance Program –
Materials, Installations and Workmanship Standards. Through
hands-on training, students will have the opportunity to see
classroom fundamentals in practice. Students will learn the
practices and techniques of the measures prescribed in the State
of Florida’s Weatherization Assistance Program. By the end of
the course, the students will be prepared to apply these
practices and techniques in future employment.
The BPI Building Analyst course, emphasizing the
house-as-a-system approach, will provide individuals with the
skills needed to properly perform a home energy audit using
diagnostic equipment such as the automatic blower door, moisture
meter and combustion analyzer, as well as the knowledge to
correct the problems found. This audit provides homeowners with
an overview of their energy consumption and what steps they can
take to save money and have a more comfortable and energy
efficient home. The Institute of Envelope Science is dedicated
to helping people become trained BPI certified professionals.

This is a one day course to acquire the EPA’s lead safety
certification. As of April 22, 2010, federal law requires
contractors that perform renovation, repairs and painting jobs
on homes or child occupied facilities built before 1978 must be
certified and use lead-safe work practices. Contractors are now
expected to be experts on these topics to continue doing their
jobs. To comply, contractors must now certify and must follow
specific work practices to prevent lead contamination. This rule
will apply regardless of who owns the facility or who is paying
for the work. Failure to follow the practices could result in
hefty fines up to $32,500 per violation. We are ready to train
and certify you and/or your staff in accordance with the EPA
Renovation, Repair and Painting Final Rule
(40 CFR 745.80 – 745.339)
